VDS

Cybernetix has designed and realised a system for Ventilation & Decompression of a distressed Sub-marine (VDS). Delivered in March 2006 to CEPHISMER (French Navy’s diving centre), this system has proven efficiency and flexibility through a series of sea campaigns and full-scale exercises.

Global sight
The VDS is a modular, air-transportable system which can be mobilised on any ship of opportunity. Interventions can be carried out anywhere in the world, at depth up to 350 meters.
It is composed of 4 independent modules:
- An air-compressor module to generate fresh breathable air at given pressure and flow rate, to maintain the circulation and the renewing of fresh air in the submarine.
- A regulation module for the management of the ventilation and decompression processes: it controls the different decompression stages, the ventilation flow rate and allows real-time monitoring of the exhausted air quality (Oxygen, CO2 and radioactivity levels).
- A connection module, composed of a set of tension regulated winches for air hose and guide rope management, allowing safe operations up to sea-state 4. The air hoses are connected to the sub with a light ROV or a diver, depending on the operation depth.
- A power generator set. Sight of the connection system
